If you pass for a good photographer in your group of friends, it is possible that you are asked to take photos at a wedding. Such a subject requires skill knowledge. You won’t be taking photos in conditions established by you, but in the conditions of the moment.

The choice belongs to them; your only task is to fulfill their wish, even if you would like to take pictures in a different manner. Anyway, this day is their wedding day, while for you it is just another working day.

The ceremony happens very fast so there is no re-shoot opportunity; therefore, a moment could be lost or badly photographed, without any possibility of repetition. During the church ceremony, the specificity of the event does not allow any arrangement of the subjects in frames; moreover, the direct contact of the photographer with the present ones is forbidden. Consequently, the success depends to a great extent on the photographer’s knowledge, his skills, and his capacity of choosing the best shooting moment.

On one hand, the emotion that such an event creates can only stimulate your artistic inclinations, but on the other hand, you might not have the experience of a professional photographer yet.

Usually, you are not allowed to set supplementary lighting equipments. That is why you will need flash-lamps, so don’t forget to prepare a flash for your camera. Put in new batteries and charge the accumulators also, as they can be very useful in unexpected situations.

In order to ensure the optical quality of an image, you should use lenses with different focal lengths for different photographing scales. You will not be able to change the lenses whenever you like during the short wedding ritual, so it is best to use a zoom lens.

The image of the bride is the most significant in a wedding; that is why it is very important for you to finely render the cut of the wedding dress, the accessories, and the bouquet. The groom and the close relatives should be rendered in a most favorable light.

Whether you are paid or not, you are present in that special place to take photos of the ceremony according to the wedding couple’s wishes.
